iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 4: Dude, Where's My Beta Edition

Just as soon as I declared iOS 12.1.3 over and done with, Apple went and proved me wrong, releasing iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 4 in the same week they released Public Beta 3. My guess is that there was some crucial bug fixed that needed immediate testing or the public release is happening very, very soon.
So why am I only writing about this on Monday?

Because something happened to my iOS 12.1.3 build that I didn't even realize could happen. Ever since iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 2, I've not been receiving over the air (OTA) updates of the latest betas. Remember how I blamed a rogue Automatic Update switch for not receiving Public Beta 3(build 16D5037a)? When I checked my build number (under About), I discovered my installed build was 16D5032a from way back in December!
I double checked to make sure my beta profile was installed properly and, sure enough, it had vanished! In fact, the entire Profile setting had disappeared from my settings (which is normal, if you don't have a profile installed).

Where did my Public Beta profile go? I have no clue. Luckily, it was easy to get a new one. I logged in to my Apple Beta Software Program account from my iPhone, and downloaded a fresh profile for my device. One reboot later and I was a quick General > Software Update away from installing iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 4.

APPLEiOS 12.1.3 Release Date: Tips & Tricks

The iOS 12.1.3 update is Apple’s next upgrade. The iOS 12.1.3 release date is still a mystery, but we expect it to land sometime in early 2019 as Apple works to fix bugs and patch up security issues.
Apple recently released its third iOS 12.1.3 beta and the latest release is available for all iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch models capable of running iOS 12.
The iOS 12.1.3 beta is a continuation of the iOS 12.1.2 beta. Apple was forced to rush out an iOS 12.1.2 update to address issues in China.

iOS 12.1.3 isn’t as big as Apple’s iOS 12.1 milestone update or iOS 12.1.1 (at least not yet), but it will likely bring some crucial fixes and tweaks to the company’s mobile devices.

iOS 12.1.3 Release Date

Apple hasn’t laid out a release plan for the iOS 12.1.3 update. iOS updates typically stay in beta for several weeks of testing so we probably won’t see the update roll out this week. In fact, there’s a good chance iOS 12 users will have to wait a few more weeks for the iOS 12.1.3 update to arrive.
Nothing is confirmed, but we expect iOS 12.1.3 to emerge sometime in mid-to-late January or perhaps sometime in early February after a few more betas.
With an iOS 12.1.3 release date now on the horizon, now is a great time to start preparing for its release. In this guide we’ll outline some tips and tricks that could come in handy as we close in on the release of the next version of iOS 12.
Use this time to cleanup the storage on your device. Go into your device's storage and delete the files (photos, apps, etc) you don't need anymore. Cleaning up your device could also improve your device's performance and it'll help make room for iOS 12.1.3.
You should also start backing up the data you store on your device(s). If you don't know where to start, you'll want to dig into our guides covering iCloud backups and iTunes backups. Data loss issues are pretty rare, but there's always a chance something gets lost in the shuffle as you transition to a new version of iOS.
iOS 12.1.3 probably won't log you out of your apps and services, but we recommend having your Apple ID/iCloud/third-party app login information handy just in case.
This might seem tedious, but a little prep work will help you avoid issues before, on, and after the iOS 12.1.3 release date.

The Circular Apple Watch Needs to Become Real in 2019

The Apple Watch doesn’t seem like it’ll be overhauled this year. If anything, Apple will give its smartwatch under-the-hood improvements. watchOS 5, too, will bring with it a number of new features that we haven’t seen on the Apple Watch before. But there’s something so obvious still missing from Apple’s smartwatch more than three years into its existence.
When you look at the Apple Watch, it resembles a connected device more than a traditional timepiece. The display is square-shaped, not circular.
Apple has avoided putting a circular display on its smartwatch while dominating an industry filled with modern-looking alternatives. That needs to change in 2019, though. Aside from the Apple Watch getting a little stale, a major competitor is entering the race that Apple needs to fend off.
Since its debut in 2015, the Apple Watch has seen tweaks here and there. The internal components have been swapped annually, but the exterior is pretty much the same now as it was then. So let’s not give Apple a free pass. As it did with the iPhone’s design for a few years, Apple is letting its smartwatch coast by.
The Apple Watch is long overdue for a significant upgrade on the outside. Apple can definitely make it happen, too. From Samsung to an endless list of fashion brands, there are plenty of circular display-toting smartwatches to choose from.

iOS 12.1.2 Jailbreak Status: Here’s What You Need To Know

An official Apple platform release generally means that a subset of the smartphone community starts to question the availability of a new jailbreak. And, true to form, with iOS 12.1.2 now out in the public domain, the question relating to an iOS 12-based jailbreak is starting to come back to the forefront of the conversation.
So, as a slight recap, Apple has officially released iOS 12.1.2 into the public domain. That update is propagating through the airwaves and finding its way onto devices globally offering the latest improvements and bug fixes.

From a jailbreak perspective, there has been a lot of false positives and false glimmers of hope relating to iOS 12 but nothing that has actually materialized as a tangible contender to be pushed out into the public domain. Now, with iOS 12.1.2 out publicly, and with iOS 12.1.3 beta 1 out as well, an iOS 12 jailbreak conversation has once again appeared.
The general advice here is that if you are interested in a jailbreak then you should be avoiding this iOS 12.1.2 release at all costs. This isn’t necessarily because something is definitely in the works for iOS 12.1.1 or iOS 12.1 but more that we actually know that bugs exist pre-iOS 12.1.1 that could potentially be useful in pulling something together that could theoretically be released into the public domain.

We know that Apple has fixed that bug with the earlier release of iOS 12.1.1, which, of course, means that it is also patched with this latest iOS 12.1.2 release, but if you are operating a device on iOS 12.0.1 or even iOS 12.1 then it’s definitely worth staying exactly where you are and staying away from this latest firmware update.
Of course, if you were to go through the latest installation then you would find yourself running a version of firmware with all known iOS 12 bugs patched. This would significantly minimize your chances of becoming jailbroken in the short to medium-term future.
So, as it stands, stay away from iOS 12.1.2 and remain exactly where you are. As more information becomes known we will be sure to let you know.
